NORTHWICH continued their tremendous fight for Blue Square Premier survival with their most resounding victory of the season against relegation rivals Farsley Celtic.
This win gives Vics 14 points from their last 18 played for and offers them real hope of reaching safety
They dominated the early stages of the match and after suffering an early blow when they lost their goalkeeper Scott Tynan to an ankle injury, they eventually took the lead in the 39th minute when Darryn Stamp turned in Ryan Brown’s low centre from six yards out.
On the stroke of half-time Matt Crowell increased the Northwich lead when he smashed home a low shot from the edge of the penalty area.
The game was wrapped up in the 66th minute when quick thinking Mike Welsh took a free-kick and released Lee Steele to race clear and square the ball for man of the match Mike Byrne to smash home his first goal of the season.
It was left to Lee Steele to complete the rout in the 90th minute with a typically classy finish that gave him his eighth goal in six games since returning from injury.
Northwich complete their Easter programme with a televised live game at York City on Tuesday night.
