EVERTON Ladies secured their fourth win in a row on Sunday as they managed to beat Bristol Academy 3-0 in the National Division.
Following their 5-1 beating of Liverpool on Thursday, Mo Marley’s team were rarely tested on a wintry day at Marine.
Defender Rachel Unitt drove home the first from the edge of the box just before half-time, then Natasha Dowie slotted nicely past the keeper minutes into the second.
The game was put out of sight by midfielder Jill Scott, who managed to finish at the second time of asking, after her first shot was parried.
“I think we played well,” said Scott “Obviously, it’s a good result, that’s the main thing and what counts at this time of the season.”
Tomorrow Everton meet Leeds at Marine (7.30pm), the team that knocked them out of the FA Cup semi-finals just a few weeks ago. And Scott admits they want to make up for that defeat.
She said: “I don’t think we deserved to lose in the semis and that will be a big game for us.
“Everybody was absolutely devastated by that loss and I think that’s been shown recently in the girl’s characters in the last few games. Hopefully we can carry that on for this game as well.”
In the Northern Division, Tranmere could only secure a point against Newcastle despite being 3-0 up in the second half. Helen King and a double form Rachel Rigby sut them in in cruise control before disaster struck in the last 20 minutes .
Rovers can now look forward to their Cheshire Cup final with tomorrow.
