AN exciting game at Victoria Park showed that despite both teams being guaranteed Blue Square North football next season they still had the pride to want to win.
Burscough twice took the lead against the visitors from Lincolnshire and twice the visitors equalised, then by the end, play switched almost like a tennis match as both searched for a winner.
Craig Noone smashed Burscough into a fifth-minute lead driving the ball into the far corner, after some clever play by Ciaran Kilheeney set him up.
Trinity bounced back quickly, levelling within eight minutes. Burscough failed to clear a corner and the ball was deflected into the air, allowing Richard Needham the time to dive in and head the ball home.
Burscough took the lead again in the 29th minute, Kilheeney netting from the penalty spot, this after the referee disallowed Kilheeney’s goal to award the penalty.
Trinity levelled again in the 72nd minute, Danny Anson slipping in behind the Linnets defence to volley home.
