Marine suffer the penalty

NOT for the first time this season a controversial penalty decision cost Marine all three points in this UniBond League Premier Division game at Silver Lands.

Marine took the lead in the 35th minute with a well-crafted goal.

Paul Woolcott laid a magnificent ball on to Shaun Tuck whose deflected shot fell to Lee Parle who calmly side-footed the ball home.

The Mariners double their lead on 61 minutes when Tuck was upended in the penalty box.

Steve Hussey calmly dispatched the spot-kick sending Scott Hartley the wrong way.

The moment of controversy came in the 78th minute when Andy Ralph was penalised by the referee for shirt-pulling with no-one claiming for the same.

Jason Bradley’s penalty clipped the post on the way in.

This gave Buxton the momentum and when Phil Brazier failed to clear properly Michael Towey’s 85th-minute shot wrong footed Ralph on the way into the net.

MARINE: Ralph; Green, Brazier, Farley, McDermott, Hussey, Woolcott, Parle, Latham, Tuck, Pearson (Williams 81). Subs: Newell, Hussin
