HINCKLEY UNITED turned the tables on the already-relegated Vauxhall, to cement their place in the Blue Square North next season.
The Knitters arrived at Rivacre Park on a mission to avenge a home defeat earlier this year by Motors on the back of a decent run of results, to pull themselves out of the relegation zone and a 41st-minute goal from Cullam Lloyd proved to be enough to keep the Leicestershire club up.
From the start, the Knitters determination was clear to see as they took the initiative. Efforts by Adam Webster and Owen Story were off target, but it took goal-line clearances to keep out further efforts from Webster and Lloyd, before Motors made any significant progress, a shot by Paul Taylor straight into the grateful arms of Alan Martin.
Just when it seemed as if Motors were likely to get to the break unhinged, Rico Richard produced a perfect through ball through the inside left channel for Lloyd to steer beyond the stranded home keeper Lloyd Rigby.
Hinckley maintained their stranglehold on the game after the interval but did not create a great deal.
Bu they had to survive a couple of decent efforts from Tom Field, which produced a fine save by Martin, and a decent header from Mark Maddox, which went just wide, before the travelling fans could celebrate confirmation of their status for another campaign.
VAUXHALL: Rigby, Holmes, Owens, McMahon (Hitchen 46), Maddox, Brannan, Field, Smith, Taylor (Williams 60), Carroll, Hannigan. Subs: Griffiths, Murphy, Dames.
