CAMMELL LAIRD have announced the appointment of ex-Tranmere Rovers man Ken McKenna as their new first team manager.
McKenna will be assisted by current first team coach Neil Young.
McKenna replaces outgoing manager Ian Doran, who has been appointed to the Birkenhead club’s board of directors. Doran has spearheaded Lairds’ amazing rise up the non-league pyramid which has seen Lairds achieve four promotions in five years, moving from the West Cheshire League to the UniBond Premier League.
Lairds’ chairman John Lynch said: “We are absolutely delighted to have appointed Ken. To attract someone like him to be our new manager shows the ambition we have here to progress to the next level.
“I am also delighted Neil Young has stayed on as assistant manager as he played an integral part in our promotion. Neil has previous experience as assistant manager at Rhyl and was successful there before joining us last season while Ken has played, coached and managed at the highest level with TNS, including the European Champions League game against Liverpool. I’m sure both Ken and Neil will ensure we challenge for honours next season and beyond.”
