Oyster continue their dominance with fourth trophy

OYSTER CATCHER captured their fourth trophy of the campaign at the weekend.

Despite an early goal from Richard Coxhead giving Lighthouse the lead in the Capitol Cup final, the Oyster Catcher fought back to level through Paul Howell and then Chris Black hit a second to give Oyster a half-time lead.

With man-of-the-match Glen Knight urging his side on, Lighthouse had most of the possession but failed to take their chances. Oyster hung on for a 2-1 win, as Wesley Hyndes produced a superb performance for the all-conquering Oyster.

The delayed Magee Cup semi final saw The Office take Grange FC to task to run out 6-2 winners and now play The Tower in two finals in the next six days. Steve Hawitt bagged a magnificent five goal haul, with Jay Stanley adding the sixth in a great team effort that was a farewell present to manager John Ashurst who going abroad to work. Tom Hughes and Mike Arbour netted for Grange.

the top of the table clash in the Youth division ended in stalemate as Ellesmere Port (Danny Cooper) drew 1-1 with Christleton Youth who have now secured the title with this result and leaves the Port as runners up following a superb dogfight of a season.

Liscard Bronze look to have won the Division Two title race even though they only managed a point in the 4-4 draw with FC Victoria, for whom Andy Morrell (2), Graham Fadden and Matty Steadman scored. Irby FC also claimed a point in their 2-2 draw with Phoenix to take at least second place, with goals from ross Pringle and Graeme Matthews with Daryl Hellon hitting a brace in reply. Turnberrys shared the spoils with The Joeys as they drew 1-1, thanks to a Gerry McCartan goal.

Pilot Boat geared themselves up for the division One cup final with a 5-0 defeat of Wellington PA in their final league game, as Peter Wright, Elliott Howley, Simon McDonald, Steve Ruddock and an own goal took the points.

The League would like to offer sincere condolences to the League Chairman, Brendan McQuillan, at the tragic loss of his beloved mother, who died after a long illness. The thoughts of the committee are with him and his family in this hour of need.
