Motors suffer crash landing

IN-FORM Vauxhalls came back down to earth with a bang with a heavy Blue Square North defeat against a well-organised Hinckley side.

It was Vauxhalls who had the first couple of chances, Rio Nelson twice firing off target. On seven minutes it was Nelson again who hit a 25-yard volley which Hinckley keeper Chris McKenzie did well to tip over for a corner.

It took Hinckley until the 18th minute to break the deadlock. A disputed corner taken by Andy Hall was missed by Vauxhall keeper James Coates and Tom Bonner arrived at the back post to head home.

It got worse for Vauxhalls as Nelson and Jordan Holmes were both forced off due to injury before the interval. On 56 minutes, Hinckley doubled their advantage when Conner Franklin crossed from the left and Andy Hall finished from six yards out. It became three on 67 minutes when substitute Alex Taylor played a great ball into Adam Webster, who slotted past the advancing Coates.

On 80 minutes Hinckley got their fourth when a defensive mix-up by Vauxhall captain Ged Brannan and Coates resulted in substitute Gez Murphy nipping in and poking the ball into an empty net.

Vauxhalls nearly scored a late consolation with an Alan Griffiths 35-yard effort but McKenzie saved to his right.
