Rampant Bucks too good for Ashton in Vase clash

BOOTLE’S excellent start continued when The Vodkat League club made progress in the FA Vase at the expense of Premier Division colleagues Atherton Collieries.

First half goals from Paul McDonald and Jamie Hay gave the New Bucks a solid foundation and a third from Will Dolan sealed a 3-0 success.

Also progressing are Ashton Athletic who recovered from being a goal down at St Helens Town who had opened through Phil Mitchell on 27 minutes. The sides were level on the hour mark by Joe Evans before Matt Court hit a last minute winner.

Despite leading twice, Winsford United could not hang on at Hallam with the Yorkshire based side running out 3-2 victors. Lee Reilly and Phil Mason had netted in either half for United.
