Evergreen O’Callaghan helps Fazakerley march on

FAZAKERLEY RBL emerged from another weather-hit programme to march on in the LCFA Premier Cup.

Steven Groves and the evergreen Billy O’Callaghan were on target in a 2-1 win over Dengo United.

In the Junior Cup Alder sank The Ship with double strikes from Seb Langley and Peter Fortune. Dean Caddick and Jamie Clays helped run up a 6-1 success. However Athletico Clubmoor lost 4-0 to Reo’s.

The Intermediate Cup saw GRA 4-3 winners against Mossvale, Shawn White (2), James Hartley and Sean Sanderson scoring.

Kingdom finished 3-3 at Skelmersdale, Kev Colfar, Tony Bohannan and Phil Grimes netting. They went through 3-1 on penalties to maintain a remarkable statistic of never having lost an away tie in the Liverpool County FA Cups since they were formed three years ago.

Larkspur, at Koronet Royals, had hat-trick heroes in Jason Brennan and John Driscoll in a 6-3 win.King Harry lost 4-3 to Bootle Knowsley and English Rose 4-1 to Hare and Hounds.

In the Premier Division BRNESC lost 2-0 to Obiter Fabs4, a Liam Currie double doing the trick.Division One saw Pavilion Athletic stop form team Rice Lane with strikes from Luke Carey, Josh White and Rob Tighue in a surprise 3-2 win.

Regent inflicted a second 5-4 defeat in two weeks on Priory Villa who had Graham Hill (2), Rob Gallagher and 16-year-old Ben Williams, scoring his first goal in senior football, on target only for David Steele (2), David Ellis (2) and Gary Gamble making the nap hand.

In Division Three The Pear Tree (Jamie Woods, Paul McLaren) pipped Quarry Green A 2-1.
