Owen strikes to ensure there are no furrowed brows

BROW FC kept the league flag flying in the Cheshire Sunday Cup with a 3-0 win over Euro Wirral.
Phil Owen scored twice and Daniel Gannon a single.
The Bidston Hotel lost out 8-2 to Halton Sports. Andre Clark was on the mark again and aided by a James Shaw goal, Heswall Windows pushed St Josephs (MCS) out of the competition. New Ferry Hotel beat Houlihan’s Variety Club 4-2 while the Pack Horse dumped a second Birkenhead team out of the competition as Rock Ferry Social were on the receiving end of a 7-0 drubbing.
Premier division Queens Park beat Division One Royal Sun Alliance 4-0 with goals from Chris Taylor, Antony Gardiner, Alan Bull and Lee Gibson. Woodchurch are through to the fourth round after a 4-1 win over Cranford Rangers. Matthew Easterbrook, Lee O’Brien, Paul Casey and Gary Duckers did the damage.
In the Wirral Youth Under-18s Cup Christleton Youth (Wallasey) beat Ellesmere Port 5-0.
The David Tacy first round saw AFC Houlihan’s beat AFC Railway (Arnold, Ford) 4-2 with goals from Jack Withy (2), Michael Barrow and John Sword.
Neston Nomads B had goals from Chris Fairhurst and Den Pearson but lost out to Lions FC (Adam Corless pen, Craig Parry, Matt Cavanagh (2), Darren James).
In the league fixtures that beat the wintry weather conditions Eddie Atkins put two past the AFC Mississippi keeper for Bromborough, but it wasn’t enough as Mississippi came back with goals from Stuart Watterson, Gary Brabander and Carl Grant to retain their place at the top of Division Two.
In Division Three, Comecon were ecstatic to find their winning ways again with the help of two goals from Tom Mairs and one from Paul McNichol. They were 2-0 down to FC Vaults after a Wayne Geddes goal and an own goal, but managed to pull it back to take all three points. Pollards Inn centre forward Paul Dunn scored four goals, which was added to by a Chris Mervyn penalty and individual goals from Mike Williams and Jay Parkinson, to take the points from Kings AFC (Butler, Cooke and Bentley).
