Seasiders swept away by young Rovers

TRANMERE’S under-19s swept aside the Puma Youth Alliance Cup challenge of Blackpool with a 3-0 victory at Raby Vale.

Rovers had the tie won at half-time, when they were three goals to the good. Ross Rule put the home side ahead on five minutes when he converted a cross from Dave Wilson.

Another Wilson cross was finished off by Josh Macauley on 16 minutes and six minutes later Macauley added his second and Rovers’ third from a through pass by Luis Corrigan.

Coach Shaun Garnett said: “We had the game won by the end of the first half but I was pleased with the way we defended in the second. The boys went about the job in a professional manner. Overall I was pleased with the performance. It was one of our best.”

Tranmere travel to Macclesfield in the Youth Alliance League on Saturday. They are due to play Northampton in the FA Youth Cup third round at the Sixfields Stadium on Wednesday November 10, kick-off 7pm.
