Donnelly keeps Skem on up

SKELMERSDALE UNITED maintained their remarkable run of form with a 6-3 win at Garforth Town to climb to seventh place in UniBond First Division North.

It was an 11th victory in 12 games in all competitions for Tommy Lawson’s men, with Mark Houghton and George Donnelly both on target twice, Donnelly taking his total to 22 for the season. Sean McConville and Martin Crowder completed the tally.

Cammell Laird’s game at Whitby Town in the Premier Division was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.

In the Blue Square Premier League, Northwich Victoria were involved in a remarkable game at Eastbourne.

They went down to a 4-1 defeat in a game which saw four dismissals.

Manager Steve King was one of those shown a red card as was his assistant Justin Skinner. Steve Robinson was sent off for shoving Matt Crabb off the ball while Scott Wagstaff paid the price for a reckless challenge.
