PRESCOT CABLES’ Saturday woes continued as they slid to another defeat in the UniBond Premier League.
Prescot suffered a catastrophe when Jones and Bowes were not on the same wavelength as the Cables defender headed past his own keeper and Douglas helped the ball into the net in the 16th minute.
Bowes almost scored again as his attempted clearance hit the Cables woodwork.
Heading towards the interval Cables found some cohesion, O’Donnell’s shot being saved by the legs of Adamson.
Prescot continued their forward push in the second half, although it was Ilkeston who doubled their lead on 58 minutes when Cables right back Cooney was by-passed by Duncum.
He squared the ball to Cahill, who made no mistake from 12 yards out.
Douglas then missed an empty goal with keeper Jones well out position.
However, the result was not in question as Cables still await their first Saturday league win of the season. They slipped into the bottom two as a result.
