VAUXHALLS moved up to 15th in the Blue Square North table with a hard-fought victory against injury-hit Harrogate Town.
It is now five wins out of their last seven league games for the Motormen, which has seen them gradually climb the table.
The home side started the brighter and as early as the first minute Karl Noon had a great effort with a right foot shot but was unlucky to see his effort hit the post.
The only goal of the game came after 19 minutes.
It was Noon again causing havoc on the left wing. He skipped past Denny Ingram and pulled the ball back for midfielder Tom Field, who found the net with a neat right foot finish from eight yards out.
On 25 minutes Harrogate had a great opportunity to equalise when Michael Roddy tried to lob the onrushing keeper James Coates, but his effort went well wide when perhaps he should have done better. Vauxhalls could have made it 2-0 after 30 minutes when Noon again found space on the left and beat his marker, but this time he shot with a fierce drive from 10 yards out which was cleared off the line.
From the resulting corner man-of-the-match Rob Marsh-Evans rose highest but his goalbound header was well saved by Jim Provett.
The second half was fairly uneventful and while Harrogate had the majority of the possession, they were unable to create any notable chances.
In the final minute, Harrogate thought they had equalised as the ball was scrambled home from close range but as the players celebrated they failed to notice the linesman with his flag up and the referee disallowed the goal for offside.
