MARINE embark on a revenge mission when they open the new year with a UniBond Premier Division trip to Prescot Cables this afternoon.
The Mariners are keen to get their promotion challenge back on track after two consecutive defeats, including a 6-3 home drubbing by Cables on Boxing Day.
The result left Alvin McDonald’s fourth-placed side eight points behind leaders Hednesford Town.
Prescot’s win was a massive confidence boost for Andy Gray’s men, although they remain in the bottom two despite their first away victory of the season.
Darren Byers hit a hat-trick against Marine, which took him to five in three games and 16 for the season.
Cammell Laird look to bounce back after their Boxing Day home defeat to Kendal Town when they travel to Nantwich Town.
In First Division North, Skelmersdale United, beaten only once in 16 games in all competitions, travel to fellow high-flyers Bamber Bridge.
Warrington Town, now in the bottom three, are at home to Woodley Sports and are without a win in eight games but earned a creditable point in a 1-1 draw at Skem on Boxing Day.
