TRANMERE’S hopes of signing Stoke City defender Ryan Shotton on an extended loan have been put on hold.
Rovers were hoping to bring the 20-year-old back to Prenton Park for a second loan spell in time for this afternoon’s League One encounter at Colchester.
However, the deal has hit a snag and Shotton was not on the team bus that headed off to Essex last night.
Tranmere have not given up hope that a deal can be resurrected but is likely that the versatile Gareth Edds will fill the right-back spot today.
Shotton was initially drafted in by Ronnie Moore in late August for a month and the short-term loan deal was extended for a further two months as he played a total of 13 matches, scoring four goals.
