Port title race is still alive
SOUTHPORT could still be in the race for the title after a 2-0 home victory over Stalybridge Celtic and a 2-1 home defeat for leaders Tamworth by Stafford Rangers.
Sandgrounders boss Liam Watson had conceded defeat in the battle for top spot two weeks ago, but his third-placed side are now only four points behind Tamworth with a game in hand. Steve Daly scored both goals for Southport, who visit Fleetwood Town today.
