TRANMERE’S youngsters put up spirited resistance before losing the Puma Youth Alliance points to title-chasing Burnley.
Rovers were a match for the powerful Lancashire team during the first half but were unable to make the most of their scoring opportunities.
The visitors were then forced onto the back foot after the break as Burnley came into their own, scoring twice.
Coach Shaun Garnett said: “You could see why Burnley are such a force at this level. Our first half performance was pleasing because we were on top against a good side.”
