So how did our football experts fare with their predicitions? Here’s what they said back in August...

MARK LAWRENSON: Chelsea will win the title with Scolari bringing a more attacking style. Stoke, Hull and West Brom will go straight back down while I can’t see any surprise team. Luka Modric and Deco will be players to watch while I expect Liverpool to finish third and Everton to claim a top-six place.

IAN DOYLE: Chelsea will win the title, Stoke, Hull and Middlesbrough will go down while Fulham can cause a surprise or two. Robin van Persie will be the player to watch while Liverpool will be third if they don’t sign Gareth Barry but top six is asking too much of an understrength Everton.

NICK SMITH: The title will be Chelsea’s. Stoke, Hull and Bolton will be relegated, Sunderland will do better than expected under Roy Keane and Gareth Barry can be a player of the season. Liverpool? They’ll be third, and Everton top six once again.

CHRIS BEESLEY: It’s Manchester United’s title, and Bolton, Stoke and Hull are destined for the drop. Portsmouth and Luka Modric will both be worth watching, while Liverpool will challenge for if not win the title. Everton, meanwhile, really crave a trophy.
