CAMMELL LAIRD cruised into the First Round of the FA Trophy courtesy of an eventful first half that could have seen the game finish five each.
On 10 minutes Laird pressed forwards and gained a free-kick in front and centre of the box. Richie Foulkes teed it up and fired in a low effort through the wall which was fumbled by Danny Bircham and the ball rolled in under him to put the Laird ahead.
On 27 minutes the lead was doubled after good work from Josh Thompson on the left-hand side of the box saw the ball played to Robbie Courtenay who’s effort was deflected into the net.
The game was all but settled on 40 minutes when a 30-yard daisy cutter from Liam Loughlin put Laird in at the break three goals to the good.
The Danny Matson goal on 78 minutes was only a consolation as the home side went through the second half almost content that the job was finished in the first half.
