Humber in lumber as West Cheshire gets reprieve

THE West Cheshire League representative side received a boost from the Football Association, who announced that the Humberside Premier League had been eliminated from the National League Systems Cup.

They fielded an ineligible player in their first round defeat of West Cheshire, who have been re-instated into the competition and will travel to Padiham on December 2 to meet the Lancashire Amateur League.

In preparation for the encounter a squad of ‘possibles’ and ‘probables’ played an entertaining friendly against Colwyn Bay at Ashville, running out 3-1 winners.

It has also been announced that final of the competition will be played at Anfield.

Meanwhile, in the Cheshire Amateur Cup against Stalybridge Celtic, Chester Nomads were not overawed as they won 3-1 thanks to Mark Gaulton, Dale Harris and Jack Delgado.

Unfortunately it was not a similar story of success for New Brighton, who finally fell to the odd goal in five in their replay at Middlewich Town.

In the league, Cammell Laird recovered at the first time of asking following their shock cup defeat at Willaston, blasting a 6-1 win at a hapless Vauxhall Motors thanks to two goals each from Danny Edwards and Alan Bull with singles from Paul McDonnell and Mark Head.

West Kirby have now moved into third place in the Division One table following comprehensive 4-0 beating of Marine. Andy Barker, Kieron Fleetwood, Mike Burke and Kris Hesketh scored.

Upton AA were left reeling following a 7-0 home demolition by second placed visitors, Runcorn Town. Jason Carey hit four goals and there was also a hat-trick for Tony Wynne.
