A two-goal salvo from Maloney wasn’t enough to prevent The Claremont being beaten 3-2 by Oakes Institute. Bennetts FC also went through after a 4-0 win over Leisure Sports thanks to goals from Cassidy (2), Walsh and Simkin.

In the few CMS League games Credit Union moved to fourth place in the Premier after beating Everton Deaf 8-2 as Boran scored a fantastic double hat-trick with Hunt getting the other two.

Meanwhile, in the Wallasey & District League all council grounds were called off on Thursday due to heavy rain. This will mean changes to many fixtures as teams were involved in Cheshire FA and Wirral FA Cup ties and these normally take precedence.

Only one game survived the council cull and that saw Princes Villa confirm top spot in the Youth Division, beating Olympic 6-1 at home.

Oyster Catcher will play Heygarth which means Stanley’s Cask against Mackenzie’s is postponed and The Primrose will play The Tower in the Wirral FA Premier Cup.

Three Youth Division teams will have to play Wirral FA Youth Cup ties; New Brighton Youth will be at home to Birkenhead YC, Northwood FC at home to Vauxhalls and Neston Nomads away to Ashville Youth. Subsequent games are now cancelled.

All other Wallasey & District scheduled fixtures are as per the original list but some games may be altered.

This week Poulton Royal mbark on their first journey into the FA National Carlsberg Cup, playing at Ashville FC against JOB FC from the Liverpool Business Houses, with an 11.30am kick-off.
