IN the third round of the LCFA Challenge Cup holders Aigburth PH needed extra time to see off Marine Reserves as they held them to 0-0 after 90 minutes.
But in extra time two strikes from Gerard Smith plus a Steven Bailey goal were enough to se the holders through to the quarter- finals.
They are joined by Waterloo Dock who beat a spirited Essemmay OB 3-1 as a Mike Lundon goal and a brace from Leighton McGivern was enough to see the Dock through to next round. Nick Crowley got the Essemmay consolation.
Red Rum lost 3-1 at Crossfields but Stoneycroft were beaten 4-3 on penalties.
All the other games that were victims of the weather will be played next week.
In the First Division, Roma are on a high after a 6-3 thrashing of Halewood Town as Dave Cooney got three aided by a goal from Robbie Worrall and Angus Village beat Warbreck 3-2 as a late strike from Dave Hughes gave all the points to Angus.
NELTC stay in second place after a vital 3-2 home win over Mackets as Chris Styles and James Hargreaves were amongst the scorers. Substitute Ivan Longo hit the target for Mackets.
East Villa Reserves earned a credible 2-2 draw at Collegiate OB as Josh Hill bagged a brace for East Villa Res whilst Brain Fofarna scored for Collegiate OB.
In Division Two North, Blueline went down 3-2 at home to St Helens Town Reserves as Mick Martin was on the scoresheet for Blueline and Graham McCaul got a brace for St Helens Town. There were just two games in Division Two South and the leaders South Liverpool Res were shocked again, this time by Eli Lilly in a nine-goal thriller at Thomas Lane , which Lilly eventually won 5-4. Mick McStein scored against his old club and Paul Wilson netting his eighth goal of the season for South .
NELTC Res and Halebank drew 1-1.
