King Harry reign as the Rose wilt

THERE were a couple of shocks in Division One of the Liverpool Business Houses League this week.
The King Harry crushed leaders English Rose 3-0 with Chris Allan (2) and Ian Rossiter on target as the Rose wilted in the second half to a surprising second consecutive defeat.
In Division Two the Heart of the City also did a job on Sefton Arms, who are no longer undefeated as The City scored through Kev Colfar, Kev Hoskisson, Jack Miller and James Ryan to take the points in a 4-0 victory.
In the other Division One games Belfry and Quarry Green drew 1-1, Pritchard and Edwards on target, and a Gary Newcombe hat-trick gave GRA a close 3-2 victory over Rice Lane.
A Brian Roberts hat-trick and header from Mike Harris helped Pavilion Athletic to see off a spirited Athletic Clubmoor side who had Ben Williams replying. St Teresa’s (Paul Barrow) came down to earth with a bump against The Hyper Bar, with a double from Kieron Richman, cruised to a 4-1 win.
The remaining Division Two game saw Melbourne H&B leave Lute Oakfield (Paul Kavanagh) still in the doldrums with a 4-1 win.
Division Three saw Springfield get back to winning ways with Ian Tollerton helping himself to a five timer in the 8-2 romp against W Carroll Roofing and an Anthony Stewart hat-trick along with goals from Tony Plews and Craig Munroe gave Linton a fine 5-2 win over The Pear Tree, who replied through Jay Howarth and Gary McConville.
Arriva Bus led 3-1 and then 4-3 after Liam Murphy bagged all four goals against MAS but, not to be outdone, M A S struck back twice with Tom Dibbs and Anthony McVitie sharing the goals to earn a 4-4 draw.
