STRONG winds helped to dry out the wet pitch in Cumbria and enabled Tranmere’s totesport.com league fixture at Carlisle to go ahead.
But the conditions were also a dominant factor in the game as a young Rovers side featuring just one professional -- 17-year-old goalkeeper Joe Collister – were beaten.
Tranmere were two goals down inside 25 minutes to strikes by Manny Richardson and Gavin Rothery.
Max Power scored on 70 minutes but the equaliser eluded the visitors.
Coach Shaun Garnett said: “It was a learning curve for the boys in how to adapt to difficult conditions.”
