TONY BELLEW and Stephen Smith kept their unbeaten records intact on the undercard of Amir Khan’s stunning victory over Dmitriy Salita on Saturday night.
The Liverpool pair were both taken the distance but took comfortable points decisions to maintain their unblemished records in the professional ranks.
Wavertree light-heavyweight Bellew is garnering a reputation as a knockout specialist but was taken the full six rounds at the Newcastle Metro Arena by French boxer Martial Bella Oleme.
Bellew’s win extends his slate to 11-0-0 and edges him ever closer to a showdown with British and Commonwealth champion Nathan Cleverly.
Meanwhile super-featherweight Smith’s stock continues to rise as he outpointed Middlesbrough puncher Chris Riley over four rounds – ‘Swifty’ now has a record of 8-0-0.
