Chester managing director Bob Gray to face the music at Football Conference over club’s fight for survival

CHESTER CITY’S managing director Bob Gray was the sole representative of the club at yesterday’s Football Conference EGM in the Midlands.

City had been expected to take other representatives, so the league’s management members could be brought up to date with the financial turbulence at the Deva Stadium.

That task was left to Mr Gray who had a separate meeting with Conference board members after the EGM, he said following the discussion: “I brought the board up to date with the current situation at Chester.

“I received a fair hearing, but there are some questions that still need answering and we will get back to them in the next few days.”

Chester face a winding up order next week from HM Revenue and Customs who are claiming £26,000 of unpaid monies, a majority of the playing squad and staff are still owed two month’s wages.

Meanwhile, City striker Nick Chadwick who left the club by mutual agreement on Wednesday has joined fellow Conference outfit Barrow.

James Owen, who is another of the players to leave the Deva is training with Wrexham.

Chester are in action tomorrow at Mansfield Town at Field Mill.

City, who haven’t recorded a victory in their last nine outings, will again field a youthful side with striker Lloyd Ellams a slight doubt after picking up an ankle knock during the midweek game against Salisbury City.
