MANAGER Les Parry was delighted with Tranmere’s second half response against Yeovil last night – but failed to hide his frustrations at conceding a late goal.
Parry said: “I thought the first half was disappointing, we just didn’t get going there was no sharpness.
“We had a word with the lads at half-time and told them what we thought and luckily they responded – though I’m not too sure if they responded to what we said or because we got the early goal, because once we got that early goal we seemed to pick it up and find an extra yard. In the end it was disappointing to concede a goal.
“We said at half-time, we’ve played Shuks (Chris Shuker) to get on the ball; Shuks without the ball is a waste of time.
“You’ve got to give him the ball, if he is playing he has got to have the ball and we were not doing that.
“He then starts to go looking for the ball and we then lose our shape a little bit, so we said at half-time give him the ball which we started to do and he created a bit for us and gets their defence on their heels.
“It was a disappointing first half but a much, much better second half.”
