TRANMERE manager Les Parry paid tribute to his side after they banished the memories of the depressing weekend defeat to Oldham with a priceless win at Gillingham.

Ian Thomas-Moore’s eighth goal of the season moved Parry’s men level on points with the Gills, who are in freefall. And Parry was thrilled to clinch his first League One win away from Prenton Park since replacing John Barnes.

“It was our first away win under me and it’s great, especially after the defeat on Saturday,” said Parry. “That was a disappointing performances but for the lads to come here and perform like that and thoroughly deserve their win is brilliant.

“I thought in the first-half Gillingham had a lot of movement in front of us but we never got sucked out.

“We kept our shape and because of that they didn’t really hurt us. We were by far the better side.

“We had four or five chances where their keeper has made some great saves. It took a while for the ball to go in – it was rattling around like a pinball machine but luckily Ian has finished it off.”
