Tranmere Rovers manager Les Parry rues home defeat

TRANMERE manager Les Parry admits his side were hit with goals at crucial times in last night’s defeat to Huddersfield Town.

Although losing the game 2-0, the Prenton Park manager was far from dejected after a first-half display he described as one of Rovers’ best this season.

However, Parry had to admit his troops faced a clinical outfit in the Terriers and 2-0 down after 57 minutes when Lee Novak bagged his second of the match, left Tranmere with a huge task.

Rovers drop to 19th in League One so remain outside the relegation places.

Parry said: “You can’t have complaints really, they scored at two good times. We thought at half-time we were the better side, they scored but all the pressure was from us. We were disappointed to go in one down at half-time but we did.

“But we felt if we kept it tight at the back and we kept on pressing like we had been doing then we could get an equaliser but we come out and they score a second goal straight away and that has killed us. They are set up for counter attacking, that is their game. They have got good pace and good players that can hurt you and they just kept turning us all the time and it was always from our attacks. We would be attacking, lose the ball and then they would end up with a chance. It was disappointing but I thought the first half performance was one of our better performances but the second half performance was understandable.”

Parry also confirmed Rovers’ Gareth Edds suffered concussion as he attempted to stop Huddersfield’s first goal.
