A YOUNG Tranmere side were unfortunate to lose the Puma Youth Alliance points to a more experienced line-up fielded by the Cumbrians.
Rovers did much of the pressing in the goalless first half and went close with efforts by Jay Gibbs, Cole Stockton and Max Power.
The home side forged into a two-goal lead midway through the second half before Tranmere halved a deficit with a goal by Power on 78 minutes. They pressed hard but in vain for an equaliser of the closing minutes.
Tranmere take on Bury in a Youth Alliance fixture at Raby Vale on Saturday.
