LES PARRY admitted to being almost over-whelmed with pride when the final whistle sounded on the win over Millwall that kept Tranmere in the fight to stave off relegation.
“I was just sort of speechless to be honest,” the long serving physio turned manager said after a 2-0 success earned by goals from Ian Thomas-Moore (penalty) and Andy Robinson.
Parry added: “I thought I had not been nervous during the game but it must have been all pent up because it was like someone pulled the plug when the final whistle went and released everything. Every one of those players did us proud. It was a great performance.”
The three points were not enough to haul Rovers out of the bottom four but the win gives them the chance of a last gasp escape in the final fixture at Stockport County next Saturday.
To stay up, Tranmere (on 48 points) require a victory combined with a defeat for Gillingham (on 50 points with a much superior goal difference) at Wycombe Wanderers or a draw or a defeat for Exeter City (on 48 points with a much superior goal difference) at home to Huddersfield. A draw at Edgeley Park will only be good enough to keep Rovers up if Exeter lose to Huddersfield.
