All the action from the Liverpool Business Houses league

THE game between Alder and Home & Bargain in the final of the LBH Senior Cup at the LCFA Ground Walton Hall Park got off to a lively start with both teams creating early chances on an excellent pitch.

It was end-to-end with no quarter asked or given as both midfields fought to gain the upper hand.

And after 15 minutes Liam Caddick neatly finished off a great move that sliced through the H&B defence to give Alder the lead.

Timmy Naylor then slotted in number two as Alder started to take control.

Things got worse for H&B just prior to half-time as referee John Marsden awarded Alder a penalty which was despatched with aplomb by Seb Langley.

The second half saw H&B containing Alder’s efforts and starting to worry their opponents’ back four as they pressed to get back into the tie.

James Roberts then powered in a header and followed that with a snap shot under the keeper and it was game on as H&B started to believe they could do it. But with H&B pressing for the equaliser a quick ball out of defence set Paul O’Hare away who was too quick for the defenders and finished well to put his side 4-2 up with some ten minutes left.

H&B then threw caution to the wind and went close on a number of occasions and it took a double save from Alder’s keeper to prevent a grandstand finish.

The only other game played was J O B against Fazakerley Players which would have a bearing on the winners of the Premier Division. Both clubs needed to win and after 11 minutes Fazakerley Players went one up. After the break JOB drew level as Peter Gannon made things all square and he popped up with two minutes left to hit home the winner.
