MANAGER Les Parry left three of his senior professionals out of last night’s friendlies against local part-time opposition – as a precaution against pre-season injuries.
Midfielder Joss Labadie, defender Marlon Broomes and trialist Ian Daly were withdrawn from the side at Cammell Laird where Rovers secured a 2-2 draw. The Tranmere line-up at Heswall also drew 2-2.
Parry said: “We picked up a few niggles in training this week which our physio, Steve Walker, considered were best not to test with a game at this stage.
“So Joss, Marlon and Ian Daly the trialist did not play. But hopefully they are going to be okay for the weekend.”
Parry will be splitting his squad once again on Saturday when Rovers play games against Marine and Colwyn Bay.
Parry, who was at the Kirklands, watched Aaron Cresswell and Jay Gibbs pull back a two-goal deficit and was pleased with a “good workout” provided by an enthusiastic Laird’s side.
He said: “There were a few fruity tackles going on in the first half and that’s what you don’t get when we play games amongst ourselves.
“We went two goals down to the first two times Laird’s came into our penalty area. They were poor goals from our point of view, good goals from Lairds’ point of view. I’m pleased we kept going to get back into the game.”
