CHAMPIONS Waterloo Dock kicked off the new season where they ended the last . . . on top.
They cruised past Cheshire Lines 7-1 with a Thomas Rooney hat0trick, Gary Riley (2) and singles from Paul Ryder and Anthony Battle.
Matthew Riley scored a solitary reply for Cheshire Lines.
Runners-up from last season, Aigburth PH, scored a tremendous win over newcomers Stoneycroft 3-1, with a goal from Dean Sayer who has moved from South Liverpool and singles for John Lally and Dave Flynn.
Mark Little scored the Stoneycroft reply.
Fifth last season, Old Xaverians struggled to control Lucas who put up a good show and ended up sharing the points with a 3-3 draw. Carl Gargan scored the second hat-trick of the day for Old Xaverians while Ryan Caldwell scored a double for Lucas aided by Freddie Potter.
South Liverpool must be wondering how they lost to a solitary goal to East Villa as Peter Gannon gave the Villa the perfect start to the season.
