THE list of casualties at Prenton Park became so long last night that manager Les Parry was able to write down a full team of players who were unable to begin preparations for Saturday’s visit to Yeovil Town.

None of the seven senior professionals who sat out the 1-0 victory over Peterborough United last weekend can be expected back soon while new concerns over Ian Goodison, Adam McGurk, Sam Morrow and Enoch Showunmi left Rovers with just a dozen fit players on the training ground.

The ankle injury to McGurk could rule the young striker from Northern Ireland out of action for several games after two bright performances last week. Parry is also anxious about the prospect of losing defensive anchorman Ian Goodison to a ricked back.

The line-up of players left behind in the treatment room yesterday: goalkeeping coach and backup goalkeeper Simon Miotto, defenders Marlon Broomes, Nick Wood, Ash Taylor and Goodison, midfielders Paul McLaren, John Welsh, Joss Labadie and Alan Mahon plus forwards from McGurk and Showunmi.

Young front man Sam Morrow, nursing a tight adductor, qualifies as a 12th man.

Parry said: “We are not going to get back any of the players who were out last week and we could lose some more.

“Adam McGurk turned over an ankle in the Peterborough game and it’s not too good. Ian Goodison ricked his back, Enoch Showunmi has tendinitis in his right leg and Sam Morrow has a tight adductor.

“I brought in the FA coach, Neil Bailey, this week to do some work with the players. It’s something I started doing last season, bringing in guest coaches in to make the sessions different. But we had only 12 outfield players for him to work with.”
