SOUTHPORT manager Liam Watson has called on his players to become the new ‘Crazy Gang’.
The Sandgrounders’ boss believes the unique spirit and commitment to the playing system which defined Wimbledon, must be the template for his side.
Watson’s plea comes after the Yellows were dealt a harsh lesson in the ruthless nature of the Blue Square Bet Premier last weekend.
Mansfield Town capitalised on two defensive slip-ups to take a first-half two-goal lead which Southport could not claw back.
“I’m a great believer in the Wimbledon team that gained all those promotions and won the FA Cup,” he said.
