Bronze social march on in Cheshire Cup

BRONZE Social turned their league form upside down when reaching the last eight of this season’s Cheshire Amateur Cup.

The Division Two table trailers visited Stockport Georgians and returned home with a 3-1 extra-time victory under their belts.

James Harris led the way with a double which backed up a Sean Cassidy strike. Ellesmere Port also booked a quarter final place when putting a dent into the unbeaten record of Division Two leaders Chester Nomads with an impressive 3-0 success.

Their opponents at the next stage will be Old Altrinchamians who saw off Vauxhall Motors Reserves following a penalty shoot-out. Earlier Tony Ashton had netted for Motors as they fought out a 1-1 draw after extra-time.

Also through after a shoot-out are Ashville who edged out host side Crewe after a 2-2 draw and Steve Platt’s side will visit Northwich Villa in the next round.

County Cup holders West Kirby were on duty representing Cheshire FA in the Northern Counties Championships. They were involved in a contentious contest with Westmoreland FA’s Kendal County FC.
