Tranmere Rovers manager Les Parry says lessons must be learned from Walsall draw

MANAGER Les Parry admitted there were lessons to be drawn from Tranmere’s surrender of a two-goal lead and two League One points to Walsall.

The bottom of the table Saddlers escaped from Prenton Park with a 3-3 draw thanks to goals by Jon Macken on 85 minutes and Andy Butler on 93.

Parry said: “We have got to learn to close up games when we are winning 3-1. You can’t let it slip the way we did.

“The fact that we should have been five or six goals upat that point has nothing to do with it. We did not take the chances so we were only 3-1 up.

“We gave away a poor goal to get Walsall’s tails up. We dropped off them and became a little bit nervous.

“Walsall took full advantage and good luck to them.”
