THERE was mixed success in the LCFA Cup for LBH teams with both teams left in the Premier Cup going through.
JOB, with a Jimmy Weincke double strike, beat Pineapple 2-0 and Thirly finished 5-2 up at Melling Victoria.
The same goes for both teams in the Junior Cup with success for Aintree Village 4-2 over Sankey Arms and AFC Breckside finishing 3-2 winners at The Grammer.
The Intermediate Cup saw some disappointment as LWV Printworks were beaten 3-0 by Village Inn and HJC Stadium, despite goals from Thompson, Cavanagh and Miller, losing out to Ormskirk Town 3-0.
However, Jacky Mundoe’s did enough to go through after a hard fought 3-2 win against Alexandra.
LBH Cup games saw the usual surprise results as Obiter with goals from Lee Donnavey and Tony Gallagher beating Home & Bargain 2-0.
Rice Lane going down to a 3-1 loss after Mick Harris (2) and Steve Westhead hit the target for Pavilion Ath.
There were hat-tricks for James Hartley and Andy Newcombe as Blue Anchor won 8-2 over Star of the Sea who had King and Cantillon replying and BRNESC had Joe Parle and Steven King on target as they hung on to gain a hard fought 2-1 win over new boys Westbury.
It was a close call also between Sefton Earls and Larkspur before David Brown nipped in to give the Earls a 1-0 win and passage to the next round.
In the Junior Cup Athletic Clubmoor and Springfield (Gary Woods 2) finished 3-3 but Springfield won the shootout 5-3 and Woodstreet and Priory Villa (Robbie Gallagher) also finished level 1-1. Villa’s keeper Andy Hill who kept his side in the tie with some unbelievable saves throughout and that took the game to penalties that Priory Villa finished up winning to go through to the next round.
Paul Appleton grabbed a last minute penalty for Quarry Green at Greystone.
