PETER CUMISKEY came off the bench to turn match-winner as Marine edged a seven-goal thriller with Ossett Town.
The Mariners had established a dominant 3-0 lead after 55 minutes through goals from Steve Hussey (16 penalty), Thomas Moore (44) and then Jamie Rainford.
However Evo-Stik Premier Division strugglers Ossett fought back with Daniel Sherrife (66 penalty and 84) and Nathan Kemp (72) sensationally levelling matters.
In the final minute, Marine manager Kevin Lynch replaced flying winger Sean Doherty with the experienced Cumiskey and as the game moved into injury-time the forward collected Paul Henry’s cross and fired home the winner.
Burscough lost 2-1 at North Ferriby United, Darren Byers’s late goal merely a consolation following strikes from Gary Bradshaw and Wayne Brooksby.
Vauxhall Motors lost their nine match unbeaten run at lowly Stafford Rangers, Andre Francis with the only goal of the game.
In the Vodkat League First Division, 10-men AFC Liverpool moved up to second after defeating title-chasing Wigan Robin Park.
Aaron Stafford handed AFC a fourth minute lead only for Stephen Edwards to swiftly equalise.
AFC made life hard for themselves when Shaun Chart was sent-off, but against the odds Steven Jones bagged the winning goal eight minutes from time.
In the Vodkat League Premier Division, Runcorn Linnets grabbed a point at Maine Road thanks to Phil Mooney’s 90th minute strike which made it 2-2.
Likewise, St Helens Town salvaged a 3-3 draw at home to Rossendale United courtesy of Mike Grogan’s late goal.
Elsewhere, Bootle fell to Squires Gate 2-1 whilst Formby’s match with Silsden was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
Prescot Cables grabbed a vital victory at Ossett Albion. The Valerie Park side took the points at the second-bottom side despite conceding an early penalty.
But on-loan Jason Massie equalised before Mark Calland (68) and then Freddie Potter (82) sealed only Cables’ fourth Evo-Stik First Division North win of the season.
Cammell Laird sit just one place and one point above Prescot after their 4-2 home defeat against Bamber Bridge.
At the other end of the table, Chester extended their lead at the top with a 3-1 win over Wakefield.
Goals from Bradley Barnes (45), Michael Wilde (65) and Robbie Booth (85) ensured the three points and rendered Brandon Kane’s goal as a consolation.
Skelmersdale United’s bid to keep the pressure on Chester took a knock with defeat at home to Clitheroe.
Kevin Towey handed Skem the lead on 53 minutes but goals from Ashley Pavillon (70) and Alex Porter (73) turned the game.
Warrington Town extended their unbeaten run to 11 matches with a 1-1 draw at Mossley.
