KARL LEDSHAM scored twice as Southport boosted their survival hopes with another home victory.
The Sandgrounders recorded their seventh win at home this season and a fourth since the turn of the year by hammering Forest Green Rovers 4-0 on Saturday.
Ledsham was the inspiration for the latest triumph as he opened the scoring against
Rovers after just seven minutes before doubling his tally on 23.
In between, Rob Marsh-Evans added to the scoreline on 18 before Kevin Lee made it 4-0 eight minutes after the break.
Port leapfrog Forest Green into 18th position in the Blue Square Bet Premier table and manager Liam Watson says his side’s performance allowed him to be at his most relaxed this season - in his 300th game in charge of the Haig Avenue club.
“It was the afternoon where I worried the least,” he said.
“I can’t recall them having many opportunities to score and our midfield three were really dominant.
“We set the tempo from the start and Karl scores a great goal early on. We posed a threat from set pieces and played some nice football at times as well. We are now ticking a lot more boxes than we were earlier in the season.”
