Skelmersdale United go nap for second successive match

SKELMERSDALE UNITED plundered five goals for the second consecutive match as they romped to victory at Ossett Albion.

Following Thursday night's 5-0 cup win over Woodley Sports, Tommy Lawson's side thumped second-bottom Albion 5-2 on Saturday.

Skem had to battle back to claim the win as Dominic Riordan's 29th minute strike put the hosts 2-1 up.

But Kyle Armstrong – who opened the scoring after five minutes – restored parity for Skem from the spot once more on 35 before United moved ahead after the change-around.

An own-goal from Tom Parker just after the break put Skem in front and then Rob McIntosh (65) and new loan player Matty McGinn (90) completed the excellent victory.

Skem are fifth in the Evo-Stik First Division North table, 13 points behind leaders Chester FC who also hit five on Saturday afternoon.

Following a goalless first period, Neil Young's men forced a way through the Clitheroe defence in the second-half .

Ian Howard kick-started the rout on 60 minutes before Michael Wilde (62, 66 and 75) grabbed a hat-trick with Chris Simm adding another in between on 73.

Prescot Cables however were on the wrong end of a heavy scoreline as they slumped to a 6-0 defeat at Wakefield.

Warrington Town secured a 3-1 win over Durham City thanks to goals from Chris Thompson (29 and 66) and Adam Wade (82) as Cammell Laird's match at Garforth Town was postponed.
