SKELMERSDALE UNITED fired back from the disappointment of losing to Chester with a vital win over AFC Flyde.
Tommy Lawson's men have moved back into third position in the Evo-Stik First Division North after Saturday's 3-2 win, leapfrogging AFC in the process. Lee Parle (40) and then Karl O'Donnell handed United a 2-0 lead.
However Matt Walwyn's 81st minute goal threatened a fight back from the home team but O'Donnell struck again three minutes later.
Although Walwyn bagged a second in injury-time, Skem hung on for the win.
Elsewhere in the league, leaders Chester FC were held 0-0 at home by Witton.
Warrington Town required Alan Collins' last minute goal to rescue a point at home to Garforth on Saturday in a 2-2 draw.
At the other end, Cammell Laird's recent upturn in league form ended at Lancaster City as they went down 1-0.
Meanwhile, in the Vodkat Premier Division Bootle defeated Ashton Athletic 2-1; Congleton Town inflicted a 3-0 loss on struggling Formby whilst Runcorn Linnets drew 1-1 at home with Glossop.
St Helens had a miserable time against leaders New Mills, losing 9-0 whilst AFC Liverpool won 3-0 in the First Division against Rochdale Town.
