Poulton take Catch of the day to seal Premier trophy

THE Wirral FA Junior Cup final will now be an all Wallasey Sunday League fixture due to Cetco Europe and Birkenhead Vale winning their respective semi-finals.

Cetco had to come from a goal down to secure a 2-1 extra time victory against The George and had Darren Murphy as their two-goal marksman.

Birkenhead Vale overcame Birkenhead Youth thanks to Andy Tinker and Steff Brennan bagging a goal apiece in each half.

Also into a Wirral cup final are New Brighton Youth who tamed Ashville Panthers with a 3-2 success after extra time in the Wirral FA Youth Cup. On target for the victors were Josh Davies, Adam Smith and Andy Ward.

Premier Division Cup final action saw Poulton Royal take the trophy off the holders Oyster Catcher in a re-run of last season’s final that saw the winning goal come in extra time.

The opening 75 minutes was goalless before Paul Robinson put Royal ahead, but Oyster man of the match James Clare levelled matters in the dying minutes and Peter Navarro looked to have scored the winner in the 89th minute. But Tommy Carroll netted in the last minute to take the game to the extra period and also netted the eventual winner for Royal with 12 minutes left.

Division One league action resulted in Seacombe Ferry sealing the title as they sailed to a 5-0 win over close rivals Irby FC, thanks to Stuart Speed (2), Adam Hannigan, Lee Davey and Tom Freeman.

In Division Two Oxton Villa recorded their second win of the season with a 3-1 result against Phoenix (Chris Galvin) as Chris Mogan, John Hughes and Dale Stephens got the goals. Wirral Wanderers beat Dukes FC 2-1.
