SKELMERSDALE UNITED have moved within a point of leaders Chester FC after another eventful weekend in the Evo-Stik First Division North.
Kyle Armstrong's 68th minute penalty gave Skem a 1-0 win at Warrington Town whilst Neil Young's pace-setters required a last minute striker to salvage a point against Radcliffe Borough.
Despite Michael Powell handing Chester a 30th minute lead, home side Radcliffe levelled and then took the lead with 10 minutes remaining.
Kyle Wilson saved Chester from a shock defeat by pouncing in the final minute but the impetus now belongs to Skem who can go two points clear at the summit with victory in their game in hand.
Elsewhere in the division, Prescot Cables endured a miserable afternoon at home to Mossley.
Despite John Lawless' 37th minute strike reducing the deficit, visitors Mossley still racked up a 5-1 win.
Cables are 20th in the standings, two places behind Cammell Laird who were beaten 2-1 at Wakefield.
Marine's Evo-Stik Premier Division play-off hopes took another knock following defeat to champions FC Halifax Town. Danny Holland's 70th minute goal was good enough for the Shay Stadium side to secure victory and push the Mariners down to ninth in the table, five points outside the top five.
Burscough fell further into relegation trouble following a 2-1 loss at Mickleover Sports.
The Linnets are now third bottom of the Premier Division, three points adrift of safety with just two games remaining.
Runcorn Town have been made to wait for promotion after being held 2-2 at Cheadle on Saturday.
Victory for Simon Burton's men - and Chadderton's failure to win at Wigan Robin Park – would have secured their place in the Vodkat Premier Division for next season.
Formby and Runcorn Linnets drew 2-2 on Saturday, Bootle defeated Silsden 2-1 but St Helens Town lost 4-1 at Congelton Town.
