TRANMERE are ready to consider an offer from German giants Bayern Munich for exciting teenage prospect Dale Jennings.

Bayern, the Champions League finalists a year ago, boast a scouting network that extends across Europe and have been eyeing Jennings’ progress since he burst onto the first-team scene with Rovers last autumn.

Tranmere confirmed the interest of the Bundesliga club yesterday and said negotiations were continuing.

However, the Daily Post understands Rovers are not prepared to agree to a request for the youngster to spend a few weeks training with Bayern before the German domestic season closes down. It is more likely Bayern will be invited to make an offer for Jennings, 18, who has a year of his contract at Prenton Park still to run.

Tranmere turned down a £600,000 offer from a Premier League club for Jennings during the January transfer window. Premier League clubs including West Ham United, Fulham, Everton, West Bromwich Albion, Wigan Athletic and Bolton and together with Barnsley and Huddersfield have shown a keen interest in Jennings, who attracted dozens of scouts to Prenton Park this season.

Jennings finished the season with six goals from 32 first-team appearances. He was voted young player of the year by Tranmere supporters and named League One Apprentice of the Year at the Football League awards in March.

Bayern, who lost the German title Borussia Dortmund, are looking to strengthen for next season under new coach Jupp Heynkes.

Aaron Cresswell, another young star of Tranmere’s League One campaign, is attracting the interest of several Championship clubs. Unlike Jennings, left-back Cresswell will be out of contract this summer and free to make a move.

I understand Ipswich Town are among the clubs looking at the 21-year-old from Liverpool, who established himself as a first-team regular this season.

Cresswell improved the defensive side of his game this season and also developed a reputation as one of the most dangerous dead ball experts in the division.

Tranmere have offered Cresswell an improved contract for next season. Should he choose to leave, Rovers could expected a compensation payment from his new club with the fee settled by a tribunal if the two parties cannot agree a figure.

Parry, with a dozen players signed up for next season, expects the make-up of his squad to become clearer in month’s time when the contract offers made to players this week expire.

Robbie Weir and Michael Kay, to loanees from Sunderland, have agreed to sign permanent deals with Tranmere. Rovers are hopeful that Mark McChrystal, Adam McGurk and Lucas Akins will sign up for next season. Offers have also been made to senior players Tony Warner and Andy Robinson, who both played the second half of the season on short-term contracts.

Rovers released seven players this week and Parry expects the number of professionals looking for new clubs this summer to be higher than ever.

Parry said: “We are looking to do business early as far as we can – but we know we will have to be patient as well. We have one or two players in mind we would like to talk to. They are involved in the play-offs, so we can’t do anything just yet.”
