BIRMINGHAM have approached Hibernian for permission to speak to manager Colin Calderwood with a view to becoming their assistant coach.
The Midlanders see Calderwood as a candidate to become number two to new boss Chris Hughton.
Current assistant manager Peter Grant is expected to eventually join former City boss Alex McLeish at Aston Villa.
Hughton and Calderwood previously worked together at Newcastle as manager and first team coach respectively. Before that, Calderwood had been a player and Hughton on the coaching staff at Spurs.
