Queens out but Arnchair fans have cause to celebrate

REIGNINGHoulihan’s Birkenhead Sunday League Premier Division champions Queens Park, fell at the first hurdle in the National Sunday Cup, going down 1-0 to Eagle Cons.

In the Wirral Junior Cup second round, Ben McDaid hit three, Luke Ivory and Mike Bristow two and Chris Moore got one, as FC Ellies defeated Armchair Alliance 8-2.

Round Two of the Tony Houlihans Memorial Challenge Cup saw Shaftesbury Youth C (Danny Mooney 3, Paul Ryan 2, Steve Duckers, Gareth Craven, Dean Nunn) beat Birkenhead Youth B (Tom Povall) 8-1. Dava Byrne hit three and Lee Davies one, as Upton Villa knocked out North Star 4-0.

In the Premier Division, Rock Ferry Social had four goals from John Atkinson and doubles from Craig Cairns and Kyle Jones, as they hammered New Ferry Wirral Hotel (Wil Bulpin) 8-1. Paul Devey scored the only goal of the game for Stirrup Sports & Social against The Tower and Paul Howell and Nick Saunders scored for Dock FC without reply against Argyll.

The only Division One game saw a brilliant hat-trick from Peter Rutter, as FC Fender beat Lions FC 3-1. Mark Lawler also hit three for Shaftesbury Youth B in Division Two, as they won 3-1 at Ellesmere Port Town (Gary Handley). AFC Houlihans (Jack Withy 2, Mike Farrell, Lee Patterson) beat FC Ridger (McGowan, Smyth, Neal) 4-3.

Ashville Colts (Ben Kearney 2, Luke Street 2, Lewis Crawford) beat Beechwood Falcons (Jake Whittaker, Joshua Clements, Connor McDonald) 5-3 in the Youth Division and Vauxhall Colts (Sean Cookson, Josh Lythe) beat Glenavon Youth (Danny Dixon) 2-1.
